Each year, hundreds of Birmingham area children, including those in shelters or protective custody are in need of back to school supplies. I hope you will join us in helping Hands On Birmingham fulfill those needs for those children.
During the next few weeks, as we discover the sales and tax free events going on in the city, consider getting a few extra supplies for this important event. Please feel free to forward this information or share with as many churches, organization and service projects.
Together, we can make a difference and start our children off on the right foot with the right supplies for school!
Please join us in Hands On Birmingham’s annual Back to School Backpack Drive! Our goal is to provide completely filled, grade appropriate backpacks to area children who are currently living in shelters. Last year we were able to get supplies to over 500 children in the Birmingham area! This is a great DIY (do it yourself) type project that can be done at your school, church or office. All backpacks for city schools must be clear. Starting in late July you should see lists at your favorite stores that detail what each grade needs.
Backpacks should be dropped off to our office located at 3600 8th Ave South by August 4th. If you would like to schedule a pick up please email melissa@handsonbirmingham.org for scheduling information.
