TODAY IS THE DAY! Earring Give-A-Way

Today is the Day? TODAY IS THE DAY!

Today is the day to make a difference. Today is the day you can become the person you want your children to become. Today is the day that one simple thought, one simple action or one simple prayer will change the life of someone.

Today Is The Day is an etsy shop with a mission.  I could tell you about it but I want to use the words of the owner, Claire Davis to tell you her story.

My husband and I head to the jungles of Peru several times a year; as many times as our employers and our wallets allow us.  We work in a former street boys home off the Ittaya River, a tributary to the Amazon river about an hours boat ride away from Iquitos, Peru.  The home is in a village called Puerto Alegria and houses 40 of my favorite faces; from the youngest, Luis (age 5), to the oldest, Ronald (age 17). These boys are here because their parents cannot take care of them.  These boys have been living on the streets of Iquitos, stealing or starving, and have somehow found their way to this safe haven outside of the city.  They are taught that they are worthless by their family, by the police, by everyone.  How can they understand the love of the Father in this world–the only reality they know.   Our purpose in going and returning is to show these boys they are special and loved; by us, and more importantly, by God.  I spend every moment with a little boy in my lap or holding my hand; refusing to let a second go by without pouring out every ounce of love I have within me to these precious, precious boys.

I make jewelry as a way to raise a little extra; to make one more trip down; to pay for another pair of shoes or shorts for these boys.  All proceeds from my jewelry go directly towards sending groups and supplies to this jungle home in Puerto Alegria Peru.”

There are simply no words I can add to this give-a-way other than to give you the link to her store.

To win these earrings, simply visit her store. Do some “window shopping” and come back here and tell us which earrings you like.  You can also post something on your facebook about her etsy or mission and twitter this give-a-way so others will know about it.  Add additional comments if you do these things for more entries to win.

Also, for an additional entry, simply leave her some encouraging words and support. I have a feeling those words will travel from your keyboard to the jungles of Peru into the hearts of children.

Oh, and when you get a chance, say a prayer for Claire, her husband, and the boys who benefit from their visits.

As we celebrate  the remarkable power of God’s promise on Passover and Easter, I hope you will take time to love each other, one simple act at a time.

God bless.
