I received this email from one of our readers and answered it back with the following. The sender requested and gave permission for me to publish in hopes it could be useful to anyone who has suffered the loss of a loved one especially if that someone was a child.

“I lost my daughter in a car accident two years ago.  Christmas is a very difficult time for us. Do you know of any support groups or help during this very sad season for us? “L”

To “L”-  First let me say that I am dearly sympathetic to you right now. I don’t understand completely what you are going through but I know how I would feel if I I had lost a child and want you to know that I sincerely am praying for peace and understanding for you and your family during this time.

You are not alone although at times, it may feel that way. There is a place just for you and families like yours who have experienced the same, painful events as you. It is called The Amelia Center.

The Amelia Center
is located in Downtown Birmingham.
Their phone number is (205) 251-3430.

The Amelia Center offers counseling, support groups, resources, and a safe haven for you and your family. It is staffed with professionals and experts in the area of grief counseling. There is no set fee for service. I have always heard wonderful, positive comments regarding the staff and sincerity of this remarkable center.

Thank you so much for writing to me. I hope that anyone who reads this and is going through the same issues or knows someone who may be can be blessed by contacting The Amelia Center.
